The journey in this mountain railway is amazing as it covers hilly regions, over 200 bridges and 16 tunnels. You can book tickets online or at the stations. The journey starts from Mettupalayam and ends at Coonoor.

The closest railway station is Mettupalaiyam, which is at the foothills of The Nilgiri mountain. Buses are available from Coimbatore (89 KM) and other parts of Tamil Nadu as well. There are buses to Ooty from other state cities like Bengaluru (297 KM), Mysore and Kozhikode (187 KM). If you are coming by car to Ooty from Coimbatore, you would be crossing several hair-pin beds.
